CLEVELAND - 11:00 pm Update: Just a few flurries lingering tonight. Skies will be mostly cloudy. As some drier air works in toward dawn, skies should clear out quite a bit. That will lead to a mainly sunny Saturday across the North Coast. Lows overnight will drop back to between 15 and 20 degrees. Highs on Saturday will be cold. We'll only see thermometers rise into the upper 20s.
Saturday night will be partly cloudy. Lows once again will fall back into the upper teens.
Clouds begin to move in on Sunday on the wings of some milder air. I expect high temperatures between 40 & 45 degrees. Sunday will be dry as well! Enjoy your weekend!
12:39 pm Update: Snow is falling in the counties along the lake shore with only a few scattered snowflakes drifting inland. Accumulations through the afternoon should stay under 1" area wide except for areas along the lake and east of Cleveland. Lake enhancement will fuel briefly moderate snow in the snow belt with local amounts of up to 4" possible. You'll need to take it easy on the roads and dress for the cold air. Temps will fall through the 20s and into the teens by sunrise Saturday.
10:14 am Update: Snow now falling in downtown Cleveland. Temps have dropped below freezing west of I-77 with 20s likely through the afternoon. The cold air is rushing east and temps will drop area-wide into the 20s by noon. Along with the cold air, expect scattered snow showers through the afternoon. Most areas will get less than an inch but along the lake 1" is likely.
9:33 am Update: Rain pushing east as colder air rushes in. Expect rain to change over to snow by noon as temps plummet. Temps have dropped from near 40º at sunrise to freezing at 9am. We'll drop into the 20s this afternoon. Don't leave home without your winter coat! We'll only get about 1" of snow but that is more than enough to make the roads slick.
Southerly winds pushed warm air into Northeast Ohio overnight. Morning temperatures are near 40 degrees, so only rain is falling across Northeast Ohio. We're in excellent shape for the morning commute!
After 8 a.m., rain will change to snow, especially east of Cleveland. Accumulations will be light through 10 a.m.
Scattered snow showers will continue later this morning, mainly along the lake. By this evening, snow totals will reach 1-2" along much of the lakeshore. A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect for Ashtabula County until 7 p.m. for up to 4" of snow. Evening temperatures will fall to the mid-20s.
Snow showers quickly end tonight as high pressure builds in from the west. Expect lows around 18 degrees.
Brief morning clouds Saturday will clear by lunchtime. Although sunshine is in the forecast, it will be chilly. Expect highs in the upper 20s.
Dry weather continues Sunday with highs in the mid-40s.
