Forecast: Warmest Thanksgiving since 1983 on the way

CLEVELAND - 9:00 pm Update: Lows tonight will drop back into the upper 30s and lower 40s by dawn. Skies will remain mostly clear all night. Some patchy fog could form across your neighbourhood by dawn. Keep an eye out for some patchy fog in some spots.

Thursday will be the warmest Thanksgiving Day in Northern Ohio since 1983. That year, Cleveland hit 63 degrees. Our high tomorrow should reach up to near 63 degrees. Outstanding weather for travel and for that back yard family football game!

Thursday night will stay dry as well. Clouds will thicken up from the west. Temperatures will hover in the middle and upper 40s.

A strong cold front will cross the region during the morning hours on Friday. Scattered showers are possible with the front. Cold air will then rush in behind the front during the afternoon on strong northwest winds to 30 mph. High temperatures in the upper 40s to near 50 degrees will occur during the morning on Friday. Temperatures will fall thru the 40s into the upper 30s by evening. A few snow showers will likely develop by evening across the area.

The strong northwest winds will likely stir up some lake effect snow beginning Friday night. Snow showers will continue on and off thru the day on Saturday. Some areas in the traditional snow belts could see a few inches of snow by Saturday evening. Highs Saturday will struggle up into the lower and middle 30s.

Sunday will be cold and dry for the Browns Game. Dress warmly as highs will only move up to near 38 for the afternoon. Have a safe and happy Thanksgiving everyone.

Temps have risen into the upper 50s this afternoon through northern Ohio. Some spots could flirt with 60 under sunny skies.

Full sunshine will warm high temperatures to 57 degrees this afternoon. If you're traveling to neighboring states, the forecast looks dry and pleasant. Watch out for morning fog in western Michigan, Illinois, Indiana, Missouri and Wisconsin.

As high pressure moves east overnight, clear skies remain with lows near 40 degrees.

More sunshine is expected Thanksgiving Day with highs soaring to 60 degrees. However, an approaching cold front will trigger scattered showers for Black Friday shoppers. Most of the rain will end by noon and highs will hit the low 50s.

Much colder air arrives this weekend. Highs will struggle to reach 35 degrees Saturday with lake effect snow showers likely, especially in Cleveland and points east. Snow showers will quickly end Saturday night.

Sunday will be cold, but dry for travelers. A warmer weather system moves in early next week, bringing rain by Tuesday.
