CLEVELAND - 10:45 pm Update: Dry weather will rule for the evening and overnight as high pressure overhead slowly moves toward the east coast. Skies will begin to cloud up tonight as the next weather system moves out of the plains and heads toward the Ohio Valley. Lows tonight will drop into the middle and upper 20s.
All eyes on the major storm system in the Central Plains. Computer forecasts bring the storm into Southern Illinois on Saturday with the leading edge of the precipitation into the I-70/Us Route 30 corridor during the morning hours. One high resolution model does try and scoot the precipitation all the way to the Lake Erie shoreline tomorrow morning. This is the outlier. For now, I will keep the wintry mix of light rain and snow is from near Findlay to Marion & Mansfield, perhaps Medina & Akron then southeast to Canton, Millersburg and Dover/New Philadelphia on and off through the day. With dry air wrapping in from the northeast, the rain/snow mix is not expected to reach any farther north. That keeps Cleveland, Lorain, Ravenna, Ashtabula and Mentor dry. Skies will be partly to mostly cloudy Saturday with highs near 40 degrees. Precipitation should exit the area overnight Saturday.
Sunday should stay dry, despite an upper level trough moving through. Skies will remain partly to mostly cloudy with high temperatures near 40 degrees.

1:00 p.m. Update: Other than a few clouds lingering around Ashtabula County, sunglasses will be a necessity the rest of the afternoon. Temps are currently ranging from 41 to 46 degrees and we can expect a few clicks warmer before sunset. Clouds return this evening keeping us out of the 20s but also bringing a spotty shower along and south of I-80 Saturday morning.
9:30 a.m. Update: After a frosty start, temperatures will rebound to the upper 30s by lunchtime and 45 for the high this afternoon. We'll have wall-to-wall sunshine with increasing clouds overnight.
There's only a slight chance of rain and snow showers tomorrow morning and early afternoon in our southernmost counties including Richland, Holmes and Tuscarawas. Otherwise, expect a dry weekend.
____________
High pressure moving across Ohio helped to clear the sky overnight. Morning sunshine is in store with temperatures in the upper 20s.
High pressure will drift toward the Mid-Atlantic this afternoon, pushing warm southerly winds toward us. Highs will jump to 45 degrees.
High clouds increase overnight as low pressure moves through the Plains. As this system crosses Kentucky and Tennessee Saturday, rain is likely in southern Ohio. However, Northeast Ohio will stay dry. Expect temperatures in the low 40s with afternoon sunshine.
Cooler air dives in Sunday, followed by another surge of cold air Tuesday. I can't rule out some snow Tuesday, but most of the week ahead looks dry.
High temperatures will drop to the low-to-mid 30s next week. Finally some winter-like temperatures!
