A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect from 7p Sunday to 3a Monday for the possibility of a wintry mix of precip. The advisory is from 1a to 10a east of I-77.
Update 130a: Our wintry mix/rain line is now nearing I71 and moving east. This should gradually move through and change much of our precip to rain.
Update 100a: Warmer air will eventually win out and this will all turn into rain, but not until the overnight... after 1AM west to east.
Sleet is now moving into northern Ohio with some pockets of snow and freezing rain possible.
Some snow, sleet and even freezing rain will begin working into the area from west of east this evening. By the overnight, most of the region will be seeing rain.
ACCUMULATIONS....LESS THAN A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE. LESS THAN
AN INCH OF SLEET.
PRECIPITATION IS EXPECTED TO MOVE INTO THE AREA EARLY
TONIGHT AND CONTINUING MOVING EAST THROUGH THE FIRST HALF OF THE
NIGHT. TEMPERATURES ARE EXPECTED TO BE IN THE UPPER 20S TO
AROUND 30 DEGREES EARLY TONIGHT. WARMER AIR MOVING INTO THE AREA
SHOULD ALLOW WINTRY PRECIPITATION TO CHANGE OVER TO ALL RAIN
BETWEEN 9PM AND MIDNIGHT ACROSS WESTERN COUNTIES...AND BY 2AM TO
3AM CLOSER TO THE I-71 CORRIDOR.
We're seeing mainly cloudy skies across the area with temps in the 20s. We'll hang on to a few isolated snow showers, mainly across the snowbelt tonight. I expect a light coating of snow, maybe up to an inch or 2.
Afternoon Update: Northwest winds continue to control our weather. Plan on another afternoon full of clouds, a few sun peeks and lake effect snow. The snow should stay secluded east of Cleveland, mainly Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula Counties until sunset. Winds will shift more southerly cutting off any snow showers. Until then, keep the heavy winter coats on, gloves & scarves are recommended also.
Temperatures are holding in the middle 20s now and wind chills are in the teens. This will change tomorrow! We'll get light south breeze warming us into the middle 30s Sunday!
10:15 am Update: Painesville, Mentor and I-90 in Lake County has been under some moderate snow for a couple hours now. 1-2" possible already with another 1" potentially before the snow ends this evening. Can't stress it enough, slow down and take it easy on he roads. Enjoy this winter weather safely!
9:23 am Update: A band of lake effect snow is forming over Lake County and will drop moderate snow for the next couple hours. Expect accumulations of up to an inch or so through out the rest of the day where the squalls set up. This morning's lighter snow has weakened to just a few flurries elsewhere. Add extra time if you plan of driving anywhere east of Cleveland today.
High pressure moving in and pushing the cold air out, eventually. Today it'll still be cold with highs in the middle 20s. Keep the heavy coats on and dress in layers. Along with the lingering chill, northwest winds will continue to spark a few isolated light snow showers in the snow belt through the first half of the day today.
This evening, winds will relax and shift more southerly and end any chances for snow. Plan on a snow-free Saturday evening and Sunday. Sunday's temperatures will even warm into the middle 30s! We haven't seen middle 30's for days! The warm-up continue into the work-week with 40s likely Monday and 50s Tuesday.
Along with the warm-up comes more wet weather though. We'll likely start Monday with snow. Throughout the day warmer air will be pushing in and change the snow over to freezing rain and eventually all rain by Tuesday. Plan on a wet and warmer start to the work-week.
