Forecast: After a dry Monday, rain returns on Tuesday

We'll see partly cloudy skies Sunday night as high pressure is in control. A few clouds will linger downwind of Lake Erie, but we should stay dry. Clouds will increase Monday afternoon before rain arrives overnight Monday into Tuesday.

It's looking like our rain chances are diminishing this evening, so expect mainly partly cloudy skies tonight with an isolated rain chance east of CLE.

We're seeing a mix of sunshine and clouds Sunday afternoon and temps have risen into the upper 50s and low 60s. We will still see the chance of a shower or even a storm forming during the afternoon and into the evening. The chances are greater east of CLE, and less west.

10:30 am Update: Scattered showers with some embedded thunder are lining up along the Lake Erie shoreline from Sandusky to Greater Cleveland and Euclid. These thundershowers will slide south through the Lakeshore Counties before noon. Elsewhere, more showers and thunderstorms will develop during the afternoon. A few of the heavier thundershowers will likely contain some small hail as they move south through Huron, Lorain, Medina, Summit, Stark, Portage & Trumbull Counties.

8:00 am Update: Sunday showers likely across the region. A chilly pool of air will settle in across Northern Ohio today. That, along with an area of low pressure sliding in at the surface will produce scattered showers throughout the day. As the afternoon gets going, thunderstorms may even develop. These storms could contain some small hail. Skies will remain mostly cloudy thru the day with high temperatures near 60 degrees.

A few showers will linger across the area this evening. But, drier air should quickly move in and shut off the rain. Gradual clearing after midnight will allow for some cool low temperatures: near 40 degrees in most locations.

With continuing coverage of our forecast, I'm meteorologist, Elisa Malinovitz. Look for the upper low to drift southward and bring rain early Sunday morning.  We'll see some breaks from the precipitation during the early part of the day, but showers and even a few thunderstorms are possible in the late afternoon hours.  Sunday evening should be mostly dry.

Temperatures should be warm, hovering in the upper 60s for most of Sunday afternoon.

An upper level low over the northern Great Lakes will drift south today. Expect increasing high clouds this morning, with breaks of sunshine this afternoon. Filtered sunshine will continue this evening with highs near 64 degrees.

I can't rule out a few showers after midnight, but most areas will stay dry. Overnight lows will drop to the mid-40s.

The latest computer models are showing only a slight chance of showers Sunday, mainly along the lake. Check back this evening for the latest forecast - It looks like it will be drier than what we expected yesterday!

High temperatures will hit the low 60s Sunday, followed by sunshine and mid-60s Monday.

A large low pressure system currently over Texas will move toward the Mid-Atlantic Tuesday, giving us a chance of rain. I'll include showers Tuesday and Wednesday as this system passes. High temperatures may climb to 70 degrees in some areas.
