CLEVELAND - EXCESSIVE HEAT WARNING in effect Saturday 11am to 9pm for areas along and west of a Greater Cleveland to Chardon to Youngstown line. Temperatures climb aback into the 95 to 100 degree range. Heat indices could reach as high as 110º Saturday afternoon.
HEAT ADVISORY in effect Saturday 11am to 9pm for Ashtabula, Lake, Carroll & Columbiana Counties. Expect highs in the low to mid 90s. Heat indices could reach as high as 104º during the day.
With intense heat like this, it is crucial that you stay safe outdoors. If you are working, take several breaks in the shade or in an air conditioned room. As far as kids go, be sure to check on them and insist that they drink plenty of water. Light colored and loose fitting clothing is the best option for this heat. Don't forget to check on your neighbors and be sure your pets have plenty of water.

8:30 pm Update: We've cooled off! But its still HOT! Cleveland, Akron, Canton & Dover are still in the lower 90s! Get ready for one more day of heat! Highs on Saturday will climb back up into the 95 to 100 degree range with heat Indices well above 100 at times!
5:09 pm Update: Record high temperatures set today! A record high temperature of 99 degrees was set today at the Akron/Canton Regional Airport @ 4:34pm. The previous record of 98 degrees occurred on this date in 1988.
Mansfield Lahm Airport saw a high temperature of 96 degrees today. This ties the old record of 96 set on this date back in 1988.
Dover/New Philly Airport saw a high temperature today of 99 degrees. This breaks the old record of 96 degrees set on this date in 1988.
4:28 pm Update: We will stay hot thru the evening. Current thinking is we won't drop into the 80s until after 8pm tonight! Lows will drop into the lower and middle 70s. Humidity will stay high all night.
Relief arrives Saturday evening in the form of a cold front. Ahead of the front, temperatures will continue to sizzle! Highs climb back into the 95 to 100 degree range across Northern Ohio with Heat Indexes back above 100 degrees!
4:00 pm Update: Current air temperature in Wellington is 100 degrees! Temperature in Millersburg now is 101 degrees!
3:57 pm Update: Record highs and dangerous Heat Indexes today! Dover/New Phily hit 97 degrees. This breaks the old record of 96 set on this date in 1988. Akron/Canton reached 98 degrees at 3 pm . This ties the record set in 1988.
1:00 pm Update: Heat indices are at 100º or above already this afternoon. Expect more heat and more humidity throughout the day. Highs are on pace to break into the upper 90s... You can never be too safe with heat like this. Stay hydrated and take it easy today.
Noon Update: Temperatures have already jumped into the 90s. A few clouds and a light northwest wind will be the only thing keeping us out of the 100s today. Enjoy the sunshine but enjoy it safely, drink plenty of water and take it easy outside this afternoon. Highs will hit the middle 90s with heat indices near 104+
10:00 a.m. Update: Temperatures are already hitting the middle 80s. By noon, temps will likely be near 90 as bright sunshine continues to cook us today. Expect afternoon temps to range from 93-98º across NE Ohio with heat index readings as high as 110º in the hottest spots.

It's going to be a scorcher Friday! Heat plus high humidity will make it feel like 100+ across Northeast Ohio.
Cuyahoga, Lake, Geauga, Ashtabula, Trumbull and Portage Counties are under a Heat Advisory for "feel like" temperatures 100 to 104 degrees.
All other counties are under an Excessive Heat Warning for "feel like" temperatures over 104 degrees.
Please remember to wear light-colored clothing, a hat, sunblock and drink plenty of water. Watch children, check on your neighbors and don't forget about your pets in this extreme heat!
I can't rule out an isolated thunderstorm today, but most areas will be dry as we stay under a ridge of hot high pressure.
Overnight, low temperatures will fall to the low 70s under clear skies.
Saturday will still be very hot and uncomfortable with highs in the mid-to-upper 90s. Heat Advisories will likely be issued again. However, a cold front will bring much needed relief Saturday night. Expect scattered showers and thunderstorms along the front.
High temperatures will drop to the mid-80s Sunday with a few lingering morning storms. By Monday, much cooler air arrives. Highs will hover in the low 80s through mid-week. It's about time!
