MAYFIELD HEIGHTS, Ohio - A police officer jumped to safety after his police cruiser was struck from behind on Interstate 271 in Mayfield Heights Wednesday morning.
The incident happened during the morning commute.
Police at the scene said the officer was out of the car laying flares for another crash when his cruiser was hit. He jumped out of the way and was not hurt.
Pepper Pike police said there was a jack-knifed semi in the same area, but did not say whether this was connected to the police cruiser crash.
This afternoon Mayfield Heights police released video from cameras installed in the police car. The first view is the car being hit from behind, followed by a view from the front camera as the car is struck and rolled forward. The next view is both cameras viewed side by side.
