SPENCER TOWNSHIP, Ohio - A driver hit and killed a man who was helping a cow from the middle of Bursley Road in Spencer Township late Wednesday night.
Ohio State Troopers said that an 18-year-old driver swerved to avoid a farm tractor stopped on the roadway just after 11:00 p.m.
Troopers say that the driver of the tractor, 54-year-old Keith Wetmore, of Spencer Township, was hit after he hopped off the tractor to retrieve a calf along the south side of the road.
Wetmore later died after he was transported to Medina General Hospital. The driver of the vehicle that struck Wetmore was treated and released.
Troopers say the roadway was dark and had no lighting. The report says Wetmore did not have on any reflective clothing and his tractor had no lights.
