NORTON, Ohio - Route 21 is shut down in Norton due to a crash involving a tractor trailer.
Norton police said a semi crashed into some trees just south of Interstate 76 at about 9 a.m. Wednesday.
The crash has closed the northbound lanes of Route 21, but southbound traffic is still moving.
Northbound traffic is being diverted, and emergency crews are asking drivers to avoid the area. They say it will remain closed through at least 2:30 p.m.
One person was taken by helicopter to a nearby hospital.
The detour for northbound drivers on 21 is Rt. 585 to Cleveland-Massillon Road to I-76.
Norton police said light flurries are falling in the area, but it’s not clear yet whether the weather was a factor in the crash.
