AKRON, Ohio - Interstate 76 westbound near the Portage and Summit County line has reopened following a fatal crash involving a semi and car that closed one lane and several entrance ramps early Friday morning.
The Summit County Medical Examiner's Office and the Tallmadge Police Department are investigating the traffic death of a 42-year-old man from Kent.
At about 7:45 a.m., the victim was traveling west on I-76 in Tallmadge when he slowed down for traffic. A semi tractor trailer traveling behind the victim rear-ended his vehicle. Tallmadge police and fire responded to the scene and the victim was pronounced dead at 8:17 a.m.
The medical examiner identified the victim as William Roak Zeller.
The ramp from Route 532 to I-76 westbound will remain closed until 11 a.m.
The Ohio Department of Transportation is asking motorists to avoid the area. Delays are heavy from Tallmadge.
