COLUMBUS - A report says that Ohio State will create a centralized office to monitor ethics and rules compliance across the university system.

The office is a response to the school's football memorabilia scandal but would oversee numerous departments including athletics.

The Columbus Dispatch reports Thursday that the office would make sure school watchdogs are asking tough questions and identifying potential problems before they erupt.

Trustee Robert Schottenstein tells the newspaper that the office will provide additional checks and balances and thereby improve Ohio State's monitoring.

Consultants hired by the trustees planned to recommend the creation of the office in a presentation Thursday.
