CLEVELAND - A familiar voice is being heard middays on the only FM sports radio station in northeast Ohio, 92.3 The Fan.
NewsChannel5 Sports Director Andy Baskin hosts the new daily sports radio talk show, weekdays from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., on 92.3 The Fan/WKRK.
Baskin flew solo on Monday for the launch of the show. His co-host was to be announced, but wasn't because contracts still need to be ironed out.
Listeners can call into the radio station and interact with Baskin by posting their thoughts on Facebook and Twitter.
“The people of Northeast Ohio live and breathe sports. They have definite opinions. The Browns, The Indians, The Cavs, Ohio State, high school football, you name it," said Baskin.
Along with headline updates every 20 minutes, there will be a full lineup of NFL and college football play-by-play coverage.
You can also listen to the show online at www.923TheFan.com and via the Radio.com application for a variety of mobile devices.
Baskin's debut on 92.3 The Fan Monday marks his return to where it all began.
“When I was in college, I was able to get my first paid job at 92.3. It was back when they were a music station,” said Baskin. “I got to do a number of jobs there and tried to learn everything I could about the business.”
Baskin is a 2011 inductee into the Ohio Broadcasters Hall of Fame and a multiple Emmy Award winner. He spends his free time volunteering for the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, Lifebanc (where he was named “Man of the Year” in 2010), and reading to elementary school children.
