CLEVELAND - The Lake Erie Monsters set a franchise record with their fifth straight victory 2-1 in overtime over the Rochester Americans at Quicken Loans Arena on Thursday night.

The Monsters tied the game 1-1 in the 15th minute of the third period when David Van der Gulik got a rebound off of a save by Americans goalie Jacob Markstrom and beat Markstrom on the glove side.

In overtime Mark Olver kept his consecutive games with a goal streak alive at five when he beat Markstrom with the shot right between the goalie's legs giving the Monsters the franchising setting victory. Olver has scored a goal in each game of the win streak.

Monsters goalie John Grahame stopped 20 of the 21 shots he faced on goal.

Lake Erie will look to extend the win streak to six in a row when they host Houston on Saturday night. Faceoff is at 7:30P.M.
