CLEVELAND - He is a local baseball player who has walked you through the life of a minor leaguer, now he's ready to take you to the bigs.

Dirk Hayhurst, a graduate of Canton South High School and was drafted out of Kent State in 2003, will be back in book stores on Feb. 28. The follow-up to his New York Times best seller "The Bullpen Gospels." This book is titled, "Out of My League: A Rookie's Survival In The Bigs."

This book takes off right where the last book ended. Hayhurst just won a minor league championship. In his first book, Hayhurst made you feel like you were in his house for family dilemmas and on the mound for every pitch that left his hand.  It was an amazing look at minor league baseball with a first-hand perspective rarely penned. It is a must read for every baseball fan.

In "Out of My League," Hayhurst takes you with him is his trip up to the majors, where his journey landed him with the San Diego Padres, Toronto Blue Jays and the Tampa Bay Rays.

Hayhurst will play in Italy this upcoming season. He's already working on his third book, and a movie script has been written for "The Bullpen Gospels."

This is a sneak peek of an interview that will air on the Ford Sports Sunday on Feb. 11 at 11:35 p.m. on NewsChannel5.
