CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Gladiators lost their fourth-straight game, with a 54-42 loss to the New Orleans VooDoo in front of 5,109 fans at Quicken Loans Arena on Saturday night. With the loss, the Gladiators remain winless against the VooDoo since 2008, and have suffered the first four-game losing streak in franchise history.
New Orleans scored 26 unanswered points, outscoring the Gladiators 26-0 in the fourth quarter en route to the victory. Cleveland slips to 6-7 on the year while the VooDoo improve to 6-7.
John Dutton completed 23-of-33 passes for 270 yards and three touchdowns. He was intercepted twice in the game. Carlese Franklin led all receivers with 131 yards on 10 catches versus his former team. Franklin was acquired by the Gladiators through a trade with New Orleans on May 15. Dominick Goodman and Robert Redd caught one and two touchdowns, respectively.
Levy Brown intercepted his team-leading eighth interception and Maurice Williams notched his first pick-six of the season in the third quarter.
For the VooDoo, former Gladiators quarterback and Mount Union product Kurt Rocco completed 27-of-48 passes for 296 yards, four touchdowns and the two interceptions. Josh Bush led the VooDoo receivers with 10 catches for 94 yards and two scores.
Next, the Gladiators travel to the Sunshine State for a matchup with the Jacksonville Sharks on June 23. Kickoff is set for 7:00 pm.
