CLEVELAND - In the 80s, the Browns were known as the "Cardiac Kids." The Cavaliers are quickly earning the reputation of "The Comeback Kids."
Kyrie Irving has played in 26 professional basketball games and the kid gets more and more exciting by the minute.
Irving scored 17 of the Cavaliers’ 35 points in the fourth quarter, as the young Cavs rallied from as many as 17 points down to beat the Detroit Pistons 101-100 Tuesday night.
The comeback marks the fifth 4th quarter rally the Cavaliers have had to erase a deficit of 10 points or more.
Tuesday night, young Kyrie was amazing once again, but he had some help both offensively and defensively in the final quarter. Alonzo Gee had 16 points and a career high 11 rebounds for the wine and gold off the bench. Antawn Jamison poured in 32 points, most of which kept the Cavs within striking distance of the Pistons.
The Cavaliers are becoming a very exciting team to watch and developing a fourth quarter personality that shows no quit. Byron Scott sees that as a very good sign in his young team.
There have been many nights when the Cavs could have packed it in and nobody would have blamed them.
Let's face it, who really expected this team to be four games under .500 after 30 games. The Cavaliers are 4-3 on this season-high nine game home stand with one more game to play before the All-Star break on Wednesday night against New Orleans.
Lebron James may have broken Cavaliers fans hearts with his trip to South Beach, but young Kyrie Irving has slowly resurrected the basketball life of fans all over Northeast Ohio.
