LeBron James practices with Akron high school football team

AKRON, Ohio - While the NBA labor talks broke down New York, LeBron James is thinking about a different career path.

Going to Twitter, James posted: "Just got done practicing with the St. V. Varsity football team, full pads and all..felt great being back on the field. Should I?"

Rumblings were going on all day at school that he was going to practice with the football team. St. Vincent-St. Mary's Quarterback Kevin Besser told the Akron Beacon Journal's George Thomas that he thought that it was a joke during the school day.

"It was pretty awesome. He caught everything I threw to him," Besser told Thomas. "He was off limits to tackle in practice."

James was an all-state wide receiver at St. Vincent-St. Mary High School in Akron. He has not played organized football since 2001, his junior year of high school. Many people thought that he had the talent to play in NFL.

In fact, during his final year with the Cleveland Cavaliers he actually made a commercial about deciding to play in the NFL. In the spot, he was playing for the Cleveland Browns. The team he was playing against was the Miami Dolphins.

James decided to join the Miami Heat as a free agent last season.
