LONDON - A fire alert caused suspension of subway service Tuesday morning on trains running to east London's Stratford, the site of the Olympic Park, but the Fire Brigade later confirmed there had been no fire.
Transport for London said service on the Central line -- which serves Stratford -- has been partially suspended because a train was taken out of service after a driver reported smelling smoke at around 7 a.m. (0600 GMT).
All passengers left the train without incident, TFL said.
Transport for London advised Olympic spectators to use other services to reach the venues at Stratford.
London's entire transit network handles an average of 12 million trips a day.
