LOUDONVILLE, Ohio - On the mats with the Redbirds of Loudonville High senior Austin Cary.
Austin is not just a wrestler he is also the 2012 Mid Buckeye Conference Defensive Player of the Year in football. As a leader, Austin is the captain of the football and track team.
"Wrestling hard, running sprints, lifting everything he does is hard. His work in the classroom his leadership in the classroom reflects himself on the mat," said head wrestling coach Chris Peretti.
Austin is also a leader in the classroom as the president of both National Honor Society and student council, while holding a 4.0 grade point average.
"I also strive to be the best and be the best in everything. I never like being second. I like to be on top. I always wanted to be the one who raises my hand to get the question right and be perfect on the test," Austin said.
Austin plans to go to college and play football. Austin Cary of Loudonville High School is the McDonald's student athlete of the week.
