MASSILLON, Ohio - Marching to the beats with the Massillon Washington High School swing band is junior Dan McCullough. When Dan is not marching with the band, he is running cross country and track for the Tigers.
His athletic abilities made him the leader of the marching band.
"One of the things we look for in our drum major is athleticism, the twirling. We saw the athlete first and said 'We can teach him to be a drum major.' He has great athletic skills and the natural quality that we were looking for,'' said band director Jason Neel.
Dan also maintains a 3.8 grade point average while running, marching, and singing in the advanced choir.
"If you can't express yourself with words, you can express yourself with music. It really helps you express who you are and it's something that you can have fun with," Dan said
