SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio - On the wrestling mats at Brush High School is senior Anthony "TJ" Smith.
TJ's hard work on the mat has led him the opportunity to compete in the district tournament. He has been wrestling varsity for three years and the team captain for two years.
"He's a great leader. He's been the captain of the team for the last two years and has really persevered through some hardships as well persevered through some real good times he's a real good Brush wrestler," said assistant coach Dan Trentanelli.
TJ knows how to wrestle his books by maintaining a 3.6 grade point average and is a member of National Honor Society. Education is first with TJ.
"My mom is one of the few people in her family that went to college and got her master's so she really been pushing me and I like that she pushed me and I stepped up to the challenge for her," TJ said.
When TJ is not on the mat, he is playing his saxophone for the marching and jazz band.
