CLEVELAND - The Mentor Cardinals magical run at the school's first state championship may be gone, but it's not forgotten.
On Monday night, the Associated Press awarded Mentor senior quarterback Mitchell Trubisky with the All-Ohio Division One Offensive Player of the Year award.
The North Carolina recruit threw for more than 4,000 yards and 60 total touchdowns on the season. Trubisky is considered the odds-on favorite to capture the coveted Mr. Football award as well, which is annually given out to the best football player in the state.
Mentor was defeated last Saturday night in the Division One State semi-final by Toledo Whitmer.
