MENTOR, Ohio - The basketballs were flying this week at Mentor High School as the Cardinals were getting ready for their second trip to Columbus in the last four years.
The Cardinals are coming off a regional championship win over Shaker Heights last Saturday, a team that had rallied to beat them twice during the regular season.
Mentor is known for its offense, scoring more then 82 points a game. But it has been their defense, which has gone into lockdown mode the past three games, giving up just 51 points, that has set the tone for this State Championship run.
The Cards will face Columbus Northland in the state semis on Friday at 5:15 p.m. Northland is undefeated and the number one ranked team in the state in Division One.
