AKRON, Ohio - The Lady Wildcats of Keystone advanced to the OHSAA Division II State Softball Championship game on Saturday after a 4-0 win over Poland Seminary.
Keystone keeps their unbeaten season alive by beating the team that beat them in last year's state championship game. The Lady Cats improve to 31-0 on the season. Rain delayed the start of Friday's action, but the school located in LaGrange survived the weather and 12 strikeouts from Poland's hard throwing pitcher, Tennessee recruit Erin Gabriel.
The Wildcats scored one run in the fourth inning, then added three more in the fifth before rain stopped the game for about an hour and 45 minutes.
Erin Pond, who scored the game’s first run in the fourth inning, drove in two runs with a bases-loaded single. The fourth run scored on a wild pitch.
Number 1-Keystone face Number 4- Greenville in Saturday's Division Two State Title game at 4 p.m. The Lady Wildcats will be chasing their fourth State Championship.
