Berea - There was Jake Delhomme, Josh Cribbs, Jerome Harrison and the rest of the 2010 Browns. Where was Montario Hardesty? We knew 1st round pick Joe Haden had not signed his contract yet so his absence was expected. Hardesty? Not so much.
Turns out the Browns 2nd round pick was nursing a knee injury that he suffered a few days ago. The Browns will be cautious while Hardesty recovers. He was injury prone at times during his career at the University of Tennessee. Hardesty is expected to be out 2-3 weeks.
Haden and the Browns worked out his contract between the 1st and 2nd sessions. We were expecting that he would come out of the locker room with the rest of the team, but his deal is still not signed and he has to complete his physical. Haden is getting a five year deal worth 50 million dollars, 26 million guaranteed.
All in all it was a crisp first day of practice. Cribbs made a couple of nice catches while Delhomme displayed the leadership at the quarterback position that the Browns have been sorely lacking since the team returned in 1999. Good day 1.
