CLEVELAND - According to multiple reports, including ESPN and Foxsports.com, the Cleveland Browns have released veteran q uarterback Seneca Wallace.
NFL Reporter Adam Schefter ( @AdamSchefter ) tweeted Friday that "Browns released QB Seneca Wallace, per league source." (sic)
Wallace was in a battle with Colt McCoy for the backup quarterback position after the Browns named rookie Brandon Weeden the starter before the first preseason game of the year.
Wallace was looking at making $2.4 million this season, Colt McCoy makes $540,000. Wallace was 1-6 as a starting quarterback in two seasons with the Browns. He was also with Browns president Mike Holmgren in Seattle.
According to Howard Eskin at WIP radio in Philadelphia, the Browns could be looking at former Eagles and Rams quarterback A.J. Feely to come to Cleveland. He is an 11-year veteran, who was in St. Louis last year.
Also, according to multiple sources the Browns have released tight end Evan Moore. Tight end Dan Gronkowski and defensive back David Sims said on Twitter they have been released.
Defensive lineman Ronnie Cameron also announced on Twitter he has been released. He is hoping to make it through waivers to make the practice squad. Guard Jerrod Shaw and cornerback James Dockery also took to Twitter to let his fans know they have been released.
The Browns need to have the teams roster down to 53 by 9 p.m. Friday night. Although, the team may not release the roster until after midnight.
