CLEVELAND - Never underestimate Browns fans. That's what ESPN and EA Sports officials are learning as Browns running back Peyton Hillis has advanced to the final round in the bracket to grace the cover of upcoming Madden 12.

Hillis earned 61 percent of the votes in his fourth round matchup against Green Bay Packers quarterback and reigning Super Bowl MVP Aaron Rodgers. Hillis will now face Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Michael Vick.

The contest is set up in bracket similar to the NCAA tournament, with players from all 32 teams in the running.

As a 10 seed, Hillis has been the surprise of the bracket, beating Baltimore running back Ray Rice, Kansas City running back Jamaal Charles and Atlanta quarterback Matt Ryan.

This is the first year that EA Sports has allowed fans to pick the cover star, and fans can vote on ESPN’s website. The previous rounds lasted one week, and the championship round has 10 days of voting.

Hillis’ path to the finals has been supported through online efforts by Browns fans, as there is a Facebook page urging fans to vote for the team’s running back. The page has over 3,500 “likes.”

The winner of contest will be announced on ESPN’s Sportsnation on April 27, at 4 p.m.
