BEREA, Ohio - Browns quarterback Colt McCoy has done everything the Browns have asked of him in the pre-season.

The one-time starting quarterback has taken a backseat to new starting QB Brandon Weeden. McCoy will get another chance to impress the staff.

What will McCoy's future be with the Browns? The question maybe answered on Thursday night in the last preseason game against the Chicago Bears.

Head coach Pat Shurmur named McCoy the starting quarterback for the last preseason game against the Chicago Bears. Weeden will not play. The Browns have seen enough of the new starting quarterback to make sure he is healthy to start the season at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sept. 9.

Seneca Wallace and Thaddeus Lewis will aslo play quarterback against the Bears.

Shurmur would not say which starters, if any, will play against Chicago.

“The guys that are ones will play very little, if at all,” Shurmur said. “For the most part, the guys that have not been lining up as the ones will play quite a bit.”

The roster needs to be cut from 75 to 53 by Friday at 9 p.m. eastern on Friday night.

“There’s a handful of decisions that we’ll make for the final cuts that will be determined in this game,” Shurmur said.

Some fans are wishing the Browns rookie quarterback would get more snaps. Shurmur witnessed enough to see his starter get a rest in game four.

“I think he’s very prepared,” Shurmur said. “He’s had an outstanding camp. I thought he had an outstanding offseason. He’s improved everyday. For a guy that’s going through this for the first time as a pro, I think he’s very ready.”
