BEREA, Ohio - The Cleveland Browns needed to get the roster down to 75 players on Monday.
They will need to have the final 53-man roster in to the NFL office by 9 p.m. on Friday, meaning 22 players will be fighting for a job, when the Browns host the Bears in the last preseason game of the year on Thursday night at Cleveland Browns Stadium.
The Browns waived defensive linemen Marcus Benard and Auston English. Plus, defensive back Antwan Reed.
Linebackers Emmanuel Acho and Chris Gocong were placed on the injured reserve.
Defensive lineman Phil Taylor was placed on the physically unable to perform list, better known as the PUP list.
On Sunday, the Browns parted ways with offensive linemen Jake Anderson and Matt Cleveland, defensive back Emanuel Davis, linebacker JoJo Dickson, punter Spencer Lanning, and wide receivers Carlton Mitchell, Bert Reed, Jermaine Saffold and Owen Spencer.
