BEREA, Ohio - Former team president Mike Holmgren was a surprise visitor to Browns training camp during day eight of the team's training camp.
Holmgren said he is in town for the Pro Football Hall of Fame ceremonies in Canton. He said he wants to support his friend and Super Bowl-winning head coach Bill Parcells, along with two of his former players: Warren Sapp and Cris Carter.
Holmgren said he was just driving by the Browns facility and was just hoping to "sneak in and say hello." He said didn't realize the team practiced so late.
Holmgren stood out on the field for about 20 minutes and spoke with owner Jimmy Haslam as well as General Manager Mike Lombardi.
Holmgren is out of football and enjoying time with his wife, Kathy, out in California and hosts a weekly radio show in Seattle.
