BEREA, Ohio - Browns coach Pat Shurmur dismissed any concern about rookie quarterback Brandon Weeden, who struggled terribly in his NFL debut.

Weeden threw four interceptions in Sunday's 17-16 loss to Philadelphia. The first-round pick completed 12 of 35 passes for 118 yards and finished with a 5.1 rating, one of the lowest by a QB in a season opener since the merger in 1970.

Shurmur is confident Weeden will improve. He also said receivers must do a better job catching the ball and fighting off defenders. Shurmur pointed to a pass dropped by wide receiver Greg Little near the goal line as one "that has to be caught."

And as for fans already clamoring to see backup Colt McCoy, Shurmur said "Brandon Weeden is our starting quarterback."
