Browns CB Joe Haden improving

BEREA, Ohio - Browns cornerback Joe Haden did some light jogging on his sprained left knee and said his status for Sunday's game against Seattle is "up in the air."

Haden, the Browns' top defensive back, injured his knee on Oct. 2 while making a tackle against Tennessee and missed last week's game at Oakland. He said Wednesday that his knee is progressing from daily treatments and hopes to be ready Sunday when the Browns (2-3) host the Seahawks (2-3).

"It's better," Haden said. "Last week I couldn't do any running. I wasn't ready for it. But now I'm jogging on it and just doing a whole lot of treatment -- eight hours just trying to get it right."

Haden said this is the first time he had a knee injury.

Haden's injury isn't the only one troubling the Browns, who have been dealing with major medical issues all season. They may also be without running back Peyton Hillis and linebacker Scott Fujita this week.

Hillis strained his left hamstring during Sunday's loss at Oakland while Fujita sustained a concussion.

Hillis did not practice Wednesday and was not in the locker room with his teammates afterward.

Coach Pat Shurmur had hoped Hillis would be able test his hamstring with some light running, but a team spokesman said Hillis did not do any such conditioning.

Shurmur said it was too early to say if Hillis will play this Sunday against Seattle.

Hillis is having a rough second season with Cleveland. He missed one game with strep throat and his ongoing contract talks with the Browns about an extension have been a distraction.

On Tuesday, the Browns signed running back Chris Ogbonnaya off Houston's practice squad in case Hillis is out.

Fujita was sent home earlier in the day with symptoms from his concussion. Fujita, who was injured in the fourth quarter Sunday, was at the Browns' training facility, but the team's medical staff sent the 10-year veteran home to rest.

During the early stages of Wednesday's practice open to the media, rookie nickel back Buster Skrine left the field escorted by a trainer and did not return.
