CLEVELAND - One thing is clear in the eyes of most Browns fans. Letting general manger Tom Heckert go will be under the microscope for the next three years, if the Browns don't have good players.

His dismissal as the general manger will be the "I told you so" if he goes on to another team and has success. Until then, the Browns will look for a new general manager and/or director of player personnel.

So what names do you need to know? Here you go:

NFL Network analyst Mike Lombardi. He spent time with five NFL teams including the Browns from 1987 to 1996. He is still very close friends with Bill Belichick. He was the Browns Pro Personnel Director in 1987. Promoted to Director of Player Personnel in 1992. He was responsible for all college and pro personnel decisions; managed salary cap and player personnel issues. He also worked with the Eagles and current Browns CEO Joe Banner in Philadelphia in 1998.

Chiefs director of pro personnel Ray Farmer.  Played linebacker for the Eagles from 1996-1998. He joined Kansas City after a four-year stint working as a pro scout with the Atlanta Falcons from 2002-05. Farmer oversees the scouting of all players with professional experience. In addition to evaluating current players in the NFL, he also scouts players in the Canadian Football League and all other pro leagues. He played at Duke.

Seahawks vice president of football administration John Idzik.  He has six seasons with the Seahawks after joining the club on February 16, 2007. With Seattle, Idzik oversees player negotiations, the team’s compliance with the NFL salary cap, player personnel transactions, all football operations budgets, staff and team contracts, team travel and most aspects of the day-to-day football operations while also remaining active in player evaluations. He is also club’s primary liaison to the NFL Office and represents the club at League meetings. He is also a Dartmouth grad.

Vikings' George Paton. He is also in his 6th season,  with this past was a promotion he served as the club’s Assistant General Manager and continuing to work closely with General Manager Rick Spielman. The  Minnesota front office team have a long professional history together, having worked on the personnel staffs in Chicago and Miami before joining forces again in Minnesota. Paton's primary focus is coordinate scouting and personnel functions within the Vikings Pro Scouting Department and lend his expertise to the College Scouting Department as they prepare for the annual NFL Draft. He spent  6 seasons (2001-06) with Miami as Director of Pro Personnel. Paton began his NFL career in the college and pro scouting departments of the Bears rising to the position of Assistant Director of Pro Personnel in 2000.

Tom Gamble, is the 49ers Director of Player Personnel after having served as the Director of Pro Personnel for the previous seven years in San Francisco. His extensive NFL resume includes work in both college and pro scouting, contract negotiations, and a stint in the coaching ranks. He also a college scout for the Indianapolis Colts from 1998 to 2004. The Niners success of the field is upping his stock every day.
