BEREA,Ohio - The Browns went through their first practice Friday with the family of new team owner Jimmy Haslam looking on.

The practice was a very spirited workout on one of the hottest days of the year at camp.

Players reacted coming off the field to the new owners presence. Browns Offensive Tackle Joe Thomas said, " I knew the new owner was here today, but it didn't effect what had to happen on the field today."

Joe Haden added, "I think he saw a really good product out there today."

Running back Montario Hardesty went to the University of Tennessee where Haslam was a big supporter. The field at Tennessee is named after him. Hardesty was asked about his relationship with the new owner.

"I met him at school when we had a ground breaking ceremony for a new sports facility, he was a guy that everybody definitely knew around campus," Hardesty said. "Pilot gas stations were my favorite gas station in college."

The Browns practiced for two hours today and it was very spirited maybe partly because the new owner was looking on, although most of the players will not admit it.

Jimmy Haslam will meet the Cleveland media at 1 p.m. You can see the press conference live on NewsChannel 5. Andy Baskin @andy_baskin and Mike Cairns @Mike Cairns5 will have the latest from Berea.
