CLEVELAND - The 2011 season has been difficult to watch for many Ohio State fans. After a stretch of seven Big Ten championships and eight BCS Bowl bids during the Jim Tressel era, this year’s Buckeyes are 3-3 and not ranked in the country’s top 25.
"In a way it hurts me,” former quarterback Terrelle Pryor said during a Pittsburgh radio appearance Wednesday. “I know I should be on the field helping them guys for the mistakes that I have made, but I am not perfect.”
Pryor, a third round supplemental draft pick by the Oakland Raiders, discussed his time at Ohio State during Wednesday’s interview on 97.3 The Fan. He admitted making mistakes, but said he is focused on moving forward in his career.
“I am not perfect,” Pryor said. “No one is perfect.
"There's a lot of things we wish we could have back. It's just like me throwing an interception and I'm on the sidelines thinking, ‘Dang I wish I got that play back.' But the play is over. You can't have the next day back.”
Pryor has finally started practicing with the Raiders after serving a five-game suspension for violations that occurred while he was at Ohio State. He left the team in June after the dismissal of Tressel and ongoing investigations into his off-the-field conduct.
The impact of Pryor’s departure has been evident, as Ohio State’s current quarterbacks Braxton Miller and Joe Bauserman have struggled in his place. The Buckeyes are ranked 111th in passing offense and 105th in total offense.
“It saddens me,” Pryor said. “I get sad sometimes watching the guys because I know I can be on the field helping them.
“But I can't think about that right now. I am on the next page and trying to take care of business. I hope all the success for them guys and I pray for them and hope they turn some things around."
