KENT, Ohio - Kent State introduced the university’s new athletic director on Thursday.

Joel Nielsen comes to Kent State from the University of South Dakota. He will replace Laing Kennedy, who is retiring in June.

Nielsen brings with him more than 20 years experience, serving as the athletic director at Colorado College and the associate athletic director at Wake Forest University.

Nielsen will start on May 15.
