AKRON, Ohio - Chauncey Gilliam led four Akron players in double figures with 13 points and the Zips routed Eastern Michigan 77-47 on Saturday night.
Akron, which didn't trail, scored 26 points off 18 turnovers and outscored the Eagles 28-16 in the paint and 15-4 on second-chances, while winning the battle of the boards 46-29.
The Zips (16-7, 8-1 Mid-American Conference) led 17-9 and blew it open with 14 unanswered points. Zeke Marshall and Nikola Cvetinovic combined for 10 points during the run.
Cvetinovic finished with 12 points and Brett McClanahan and Marshall added 11 each for Akron, which won its fifth straight and ninth out of its past 10.
Keith Dambrot won his 178th game as Akron's coach, tying Tony Laterza (1960-68) for second place on the Zips' career wins list.
Eastern Michigan (10-13, 5-4) was led by Matt Balkema with 15 points, on 7-of-10 shooting, and Antonio Green with 13.
