AKRON, Ohio - Zeke Marshall lead five Zips in double figures with 16 points and seven rebounds as Akron won its ninth straight conference game 79-68 over Bowling Green at Rhodes arena on Wednesday night.
Alex Abreu, Brian Walsh and Nikola Cvetinovic all finished with 12 points, Demetrius Treadwell scored 10.
Akron improves to 20-8 (12-1 MAC) and has a three game lead over Buffalo, Kent State and Ohio University for first place in the Mid-American Conference.
Akron's final three regular season games are against those three teams tied for second place starting at Ohio University on Sunday night. A win against any of the final three games gives the Zips the M.A.C. regular season championship and the top seed in next month's M.A.C. tournament.
Akron has now won at least 20 games for seven consecutive seasons.
