BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Akron Zips extended the nations second longest active win streak with a 68-55 win at Bowling Green on Wednesday night. The Zips have now won 12 straight games.
Zeke Marshall lead the Zips with 15 points on seven of nine shooting and added three rebounds.
Demetrius Treadwell recorded a double double, ten points, eleven rebounds and four assists.
Nick Harney also finished in double figures with ten points.
The win was the 200th for head coach Keith Dambrot at Akron.
The Zips win streak is the longest in the Mid-American Conference since the Kent State Golden Flashes won 21 consecutive games in the 2001-2002 season.
Akron will look to extend their win streak to 13 straight when they host the Ohio Bobcats at Rhodes arena on Saturday evening at five o'clock. Both teams are undefeated in conference play. The Bobcats beat the Zips in last years MAC tournament championship game. The game will air on ESPN-U.
Akron's 12 game active win streak trails only the Kansas Jayhawks who have won 18 straight games.
The Zips (16-4, 7-0 MAC) are off to the best start in conference play ever.
