Akron beats Bowling Green 67-50 for 17th straight win

AKRON, Ohio - Zeke Marshall scored 15 points with nine rebounds as Akron won its 17th straight and remained perfect in Mid-American Conference play, beating Bowling Green 67-50 Saturday night.

Marshall hit 7 of 7 at the foul line while leading four Zips (21-4, 12-0) in double figures. Alex Abreu and Nick Harney each had 13 points while Brian Walsh had 10.

Akron won despite shooting 36.5 percent (23 of 63) from the field and making just 2 of 14 3-point attempts. The Zips helped themselves by making 82.6 percent (19 of 23) at the foul line and outrebounding the Falcons 43-35.

Bowling Green (10-15, 5-7) shot just 32.8 percent (19 of 58), making 3 of 12 from long range. Richaun Holmes led the Falcons with 15 points and eight rebounds off the bench, while A'uston Calhoun added 11 points.

The Falcons went final 5 1/2 minutes without a field goal.
