CLEVELAND - The Cavaliers have assigned newly acquired guard Josh Selby to their Canton affiliate in the NBA Development League.
Selby joined the Cavs on Tuesday in the trade from Memphis along with center Marreese Speights, guard Wayne Ellington and a future first-round draft pick. Cleveland sent forward Jon Leuer to the Grizzlies.
Selby played in 10 games for the Grizzlies, averaging two points and 5.9 minutes. He also played two games for Reno in the D-League earlier this season and averaged 22 points, 6.5 rebounds and 7 assists.
Because of league paperwork, the trade wasn't finalized until Thursday and the new Cavs have yet to practice. Speights and Ellington will not play in Friday's home game against Milwaukee and may not see any playing time until next week.
