Indians general manager Chris Antonetti is seeking help for his third-place team.
Antonetti said Thursday he is involved in plenty of discussions, which is typical for the approaching July 31 trade deadline. He wouldn't categorize the Indians, four games out in the AL Central, as either buyers or sellers at this point.
A year ago, with Cleveland 2 1/2 games behind, Antonetti dealt four prospects for former NL All-Star pitcher Ubaldo Jimenez.
This year, Antonetti said he is trying to construct a deal, perhaps not of that magnitude, but stressed that the players currently on the roster -- in particular underachieving veterans Carlos Santana and Travis Hafner -- must play better for the team to stay in contention.
