CLEVELAND - Tickets for the Indians' 2013 home opener were scooped up quickly after single-game tickets went on sale Monday at 10 a.m.

The team said tickets for that game, scheduled for April 8 at 4:05 p.m. against the Yankees, sold out in six minutes, one of the fastest sellouts in team history.

In past years, Opening Day sellouts became official on March 30 (2009), April 8 (2010), March 24 (2011) and March 15 (2012).

This marks the 21st consecutive home opener sellout and the 20th at Progressive Field, which opened in 1994.

Buzz has been building around the 2013 Indians with the offseason additions of Nick Swisher and Michael Bourn.

To secure the best seats and get the best value, the team is reminding fans to buy their 2013 single-game and group tickets early and choose paperless or Print at Home options.

Fans can call 216-420-HITS or log on to www.Indians.com for more information.
