Indians outfielder Shin-Soo Choo has been lifted for a pinch-hitter in the fifth inning because of an undisclosed injury.
Choo missed two games with left-side soreness near his back, but told Cleveland manager Manny Acta on Saturday that he felt good enough to play against the Kansas City Royals. Choo went 0 for 2 before being replaced by Ezequiel Carrera.
After catching a routine fly ball hit by the Royals' Billy Butler to end the top of the fifth, Choo went to the dugout and spoke with Acta.
Choo came in batting .364 (16 for 44) with three homers in 11 games since being activated from the disabled list Aug. 12. He went on the disabled list June 24 with a broken left thumb after being hit by a pitch by San Francisco's Jonathan Sanchez.
