CLEVELAND - The Indians claimed right-hander Blake Wood on waivers from Kansas City and activated pitchers Carlos Carrasco, Josh Tomlin and Rafael Perez from the 60-day disabled list.
Wood missed last season after undergoing Tommy John elbow surgery on May 25. A third-round pick in 2006, Wood is 6-6 with a 4.30 ERA in 105 major league appearances in relief. He went 5-3 in 2011 with a 3.75 ERA in 55 games for the Royals.
Carrasco and Tomlin also had Tommy John surgeries on their right elbows. Carrasco is expected to compete for a starting job in spring training while Tomlin will miss the 2013 season. Perez is coming off shoulder surgery after missing most of the 2012 season. The left-hander, who pitched in 71 games in 2011, is eligible for salary arbitration.
