CLEVELAND - The Cleveland Indians and shortstop Asdrubal Cabrera avoided arbitration on Friday when both sides agreed to a one-year $4.55 million deal.

With Cabrera's signing, all seven Indians players who were eligible for arbitration this offseason are now signed. It marks the 21st consecutive year that the Indians have not to go to arbitration with player. The last time an Indians player went to arbitration was Greg Swindell in 1991.

Cabrera set career highs in homeruns (25) and RBIs (92) in 2011. Cabrera also won the Silver Slugger award for American League shortstops and started at shortstop for the American League in the All-Star game.

The Indians hope to get a long term contract done with Cabrera before he can become a free agent following the 2013 season.
