CLEVELAND - The Indians offseason search for a first baseman will come to an end. The tribe is said to a 1-year deal in place with Casey Kotchman.
Kotchman hit a career high .306 with 24 doubles, 10 homers and 48 rbi's in 2011 with the Tampa Bay Rays.
Kotchman will battle with Matt LaPorta, and the recently acquired Russ Canzler for the starting position at first baseman. Carlos Santana will also see some time at first baseman this season.
Kotchman is expected to make $3-million dollars in 2012. Kotchman is an eight year major league veteran who has played with the Anaheim Angels, Seattle Mariners and the Tampa Bay Rays.
