CLEVELAND - Lower back inflammation has forced the Cleveland Indians to place Travis Hafner on the 15 day disabled list.
The Tribe has recalled infielder Jason Donald from Triple-A Columbus to replace him.
This marks the second time Hafner has been placed on the DL. He had been hitting .239 (48-201) with 6 doubles, 2 triples, 11 home runs and 32 RBI in 60 games. He was previously on the DL from May 24-July 4 after undergoing right knee surgery.
Donald begins his third stint with Cleveland after opening the season with the club and a brief two-game stint in early July (18G, .188AVG, 9-for-48).
Donald will wear #16.
It’s been a tough time for the Indians, with their recent 11 game losing streak. One more loss would have tied a franchise record for most consecutive losses dating back to 1931.
