DEARBORN, Mich. - Dearborn Police Chief Ronald Haddad confirmed that the body recovered in a wooded area near the Southfield Freeway and Michigan Avenue is Brenna Machus, the missing Family Dollar store employee.
Earlier police had said there were 'similarities' to the 20-year-old woman.
Investigators responded to the scene after receiving a 911 call. The chief would not give specifics on that call.
"I feel rather enraged that we have another homicide in Dearborn at this time. It appears to be a female and there are similarities with the missing person," said Chief Haddad.
The surrounding area was blocked off with police cars and crime scene tape. Authorities used canines to conduct a search for any additional evidence.
Police had been searching for Brenna Machus after finding her co-worker dead inside the Dearborn Family Dollar Store on Monday night.
Family Dollar store employee Joe Orlando, 20, was shot and killed execution-style on Monday night.
