COLUMBUS, Ohio - Emergency crews in Columbus rushed to the city’s casino construction site Friday morning after a piece of equipment fell on a worker.
Authorities told our news partner, The Ohio News Network , that a 53-year-old worker was on the first floor of the Hollywood Casino at about 8:30 a.m when a forklift weighing about 1,000 lbs fell on him.
The casino site is located at Georgesville Road and West Broad Street.
Investigators told ONN that the worker suffered only minor cuts and scrapes. He was taken to the hospital for treatment and was expected to survive his injuries.
The identity of the victim was not immediately released.
This is the third accident that has happened at three different casino construction sites in Ohio. In December, a portion of the second-level parking deck collapsed at the garage for the Cleveland Horseshoe Casino. No one was hurt in that incident.
Then in January, a portion of a floor of the casino in Cincinnati collapsed while workers were pouring concrete. More than a dozen workers were treated for injuries in that incident.
